Honey Field Farm offers a supportive, fun, and stimulating work environment for anyone who loves to farm, garden, be outside, and work with their hands. We strive to provide a welcoming atmosphere for people to learn, solve problems, and work as a team to sustainably grow food and flowers for the community. Farm owners Valerie and Eli learned from working on a dozen diverse farms across the country, and commit to practices that they found empowering and motivating, like: ​ Ensuring all team members feel confident and clear in training and instructions Identifying employees’ special interests, skills, and opportunities to grow Talking about the “why” behind farm practices to share ideas and connect with the bigger picture Prioritizing team building to create a cohesive, fun, and supportive work environment ​ Each day starts with a quick team meeting and morning stretching to prepare for the day. Every shift includes a paid 15 minute coffee/tea break, and full shifts have a 30 minute lunch break. All employees get staff check-ins with managers throughout the season to give input, receive feedback, and talk about skills/experiences they want more of. Honey Field Farm offers a unique veggie production experience by balancing a full retail market garden with a limited selection of larger wholesale crops. We value work-life balance, clear communication, and a work environment that is safe, supportive, and welcoming. If you are interested in learning about lean wholesale vegetable production, and community-focused sustainable agriculture, please apply! ​ Responsibilities & Duties: ​ Seed and transplant crops Maintain crops (weed, hoe, irrigate, prune, etc.) Harvest, wash and pack crops, managing quality control and food safety practices Assist in basic farm projects Opportunities to learn or build upon special areas of interest or experience Other duties may include making local deliveries ​ ​ Qualifications: ​ One year of farm production, landscaping, or restaurant or commercial kitchen experience preferred, enthusiasm and interest in farming required. Love for hot peppers is appreciated but not necessary Positive attitude, good sense of humor, patience, and determination Ability to work on a team and on independent projects Strong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Ability to lift 45 pounds, do physically demanding work and repetitive tasks, and be on feet, hands, and knees for 8 hours per day Willingness to work outdoors in any weather Valid ID and dependable transportation ​ Compensation & Perks: ​ Compensation is based on skill and experience level, starting at $12/hr. 5 paid sick days and 5 planned vacation days; after 1 full season vacation time is compensated. BACK TO TOP GREENHOUSE PRODUCTION CREW 12-40 hours per week, March - June flexible schedule ​ Job Overview: The greenhouse production crew assists in seeding, transplanting, and maintaining annual and perennial bedding plants, and organically-certified vegetable and herb starts. ​ Responsibilities & Duties: ​ Seeding flower, herb, and veggie starts Transplanting plant starts into packs, pots, and containers Caring for plants via fertilizing, pruning, and other related tasks Maintaining a clean, organized work area Providing customer service and assistance when needed ​ ​ Qualifications: ​ One year of experience greenhouse or farm experience preferred, interest in greenhouse production required Positive attitude, good sense of humor, patience, and determination Ability to work on a team and on independent projects Strong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Ability to lift 30 pounds, do physically demanding work and repetitive tasks, and be on feet, hands, and knees for 8 hours per day Willingness to work in greenhouses and outdoors in any weather Valid ID and dependable transportation ​ Compensation & Perks: ​ Compensation is based on skill and experience level, starting at $12/hr. 3 paid sick days and 3 planned vacation days; after 1 full season vacation time is compensated. BACK TO TOP FARMSTAND RETAIL CREW 12-30 hours per week, April - July flexible schedule ​ Job Overview: The retail crew team is the friendly face of our farm stand, providing helpful customer service, assisting in sales, restocking, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. ​ Responsibilities & Duties: ​ Perform sales and manage cash register Provide outstanding customer service, answer questions about annual, perennial, and vegetable growing, assist customers in finding products that meet their needs Restock farm stand and sales houses Clean sales areas, and perform maintenance when needed Assist in greenhouse production and other duties, including directing parking, carrying customers purchases to the car, etc. ​ ​ Qualifications: ​ One year of customer service preferred, interest in local food and flowers required Comfort with handling cash, credit, and debit sales Ability to maintain positive demeanor with customers throughout interactions Positive attitude, good sense of humor, patience, and determination Ability to work on a team and on independent projects Strong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Ability to lift 20 pounds, do physically demanding work and repetitive tasks, and be on feet, hands, and knees for 8 hours per day Willingness to work outdoors/in greenhouses in any weather Valid ID and dependable transportation ​ Compensation & Perks: ​ Compensation is based on skill and experience level, starting at $12/hr. 3 paid sick days and 3 planned vacation days; after 1 full season vacation time is compensated. We understand how overwhelming this time of uncertainty is, and want to provide clarity about our practices so you can feel confident that our healthy products are safe for your family. ​ We take COVID-19 very seriously for both our customers and our team. All team members wear masks while working and handling food. Our hands and surfaces are sanitized before touching produce during harvest, washing, packing and handling. We offer curbside pick-up options to give our community a low-risk way to access fresh, local food. Our priority is to keep the community healthy by providing plants and vegetables, while reducing risk of transmission. ABOUT THE FARM Our Story Honey Field Farm is a 35-acre family farm located in Norwich, Vermont. We grow 15 acres of certified organic vegetables to distribute to local and regional partners, and to stock our farm stand, where you can also find a wide variety of pickles, relishes, and other farm-sourced specialty products. From April - July our array of greenhouses also offer vibrant annual and perennial flower starts ready to fill your garden. PAY US A VISIT Our Address VISIT US & SHOP OUR ONLINE STORE!
