Farm owners Valerie and Eli learned from working on a dozen diverse farms across the country, and commit to practices that they found empowering and motivating, like:
Ensuring all team members feel confident and clear in training and instructions
Identifying employees’ special interests, skills, and opportunities to grow
Talking about the “why” behind farm practices to share ideas and connect with the bigger picture
Prioritizing team building to create a cohesive, fun, and supportive work environment
Treating everyone with respect, trusting them with responsibility, and giving opportunities to collaborate and provide input on the farm

Each day starts with a quick team meeting to prepare for the day. Typical work days are 8 am – 4 pm early season and 7 am - 3 pm main season, though some shifts vary. Every shift includes a paid 15 minute break, and full shifts have a paid 30 minute lunch break.
We strive to give ample opportunity for team members to give input on our systems, receive feedback on their work, and talk about skills/experiences they want more of. Once a month we hold an hour-long team meeting to check in, brainstorm ideas, provide training and feedback, and plan upcoming projects, though we encourage employees to check in with us individually whenever needed.
Honey Field Farm is an equal opportunity employer and values diverse representation in Vermont's farm community. We encourage BIPOC, women-identified, queer, and trans folx to apply.
“I’ve worked in a variety of roles on organic farms in the past but Honey Field Farm is different. Valerie and Eli’s vision of sustainable, engaged agriculture made me fall in love with the work all over again. They work hard, not just to grow the farm, but to lift up their community.”

“I'd never connected more with my coworkers and felt more like a part of a family than I did when working at Honey Field Farm. Friendships that were formed while digging in the soil and transplanting peppers are friendships that I continue to build on and appreciate to this day. I also had never quite found myself, or grown into myself, the way that I did while at Honey Field Farm.”
—Emily, former HFF Field Manager
